14 Kg of Pakcoy Planted at Budi Mulia RPTRA

The Budi Mulia Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) caretakers, Pademangan Barat Urban Village, Pademangan Sub-district, North Jakarta, succeeded in harvesting 14 kg of Pakcoy planted hydroponically.

Budi Mulia Pademangan RPTRA Caretaker, Imam Subhi said it was the second harvest after repairs to the Organic House. The caretaker routinely provides fertilizer and nutrients every week for better planting.

"This harvest is sold to sub-district, urban village ASNs, and surrounding communities for Rp 10,000 per 270 grams," he expressed, Thursday (2/15).

To increase added value, they also make drinks or smoothies made from Pakcoy which are sold for Rp 10,000 per bottle.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), this healthy drink is also very popular. Each harvest, we can make about 30 bottles, they sell out immediately. The profits are also very good," he explained.

Besides the Pakcoy at Organic House, at the Budi Mulia RPTRA, other plants were also planted such as water spinach, spinach, chilies, and melons. Even, there was also a nutritional pool at the same location.

"After harvest, we immediately replant in order to maintain land productivity," he expressed.

One of ASNs under Pademangan Sub-district, Rina admitted the vegetables from Organic House were very good and fresh.

"I often buy when there is a notification that there is a harvest at the Budi Mulia RPTRA. The processed vegetable-based beverage products made are also refreshing and delicious," she explained.

She added urban farming could also educate and provide examples to residents regarding land use to maintain food security, meet nutritional needs, and green the environment.

"Hopefully, it can maintain food security and meet the nutrition of residents in Pademangan," she hoped.
